Becky Gleason
The Artist

Recent Works

Becky Gleason, a self-taught artist, is well accomplished in a variety of media. Her work takes on expression in moments she interprets as meaningful, intriguing and beautiful. Her most recent focus is classic themes in oil and acrylic on canvas.

Becky's portfolio of work includes fine handpainting on furniture for residential interiors as well as for professional design/restoration companies. Each piece, new or antique, is designed to express the personality she is able to discover. She is also accomplished in mural painting. A favorite commission was painting a client's entire dining room ceiling with blue sky breaking through sun drenched storm clouds, using layer after layer of hues. She's also created "PARIS POTS" as noted in Chicago Home and Garden Magazine. These pots combine her signature gold lettering, black and ivory checkerboard pattern with handwritten French Poetry.

Inspiration

Becky's style of painting ranges from Impressionism to Realism. Her talent for recognizing beauty, in what seems to be all places and times, feeds her creativity and self expression. Favorite themes include women and their empowerment and communication, classic landscapes, and view of gracious living and beautiful surroundings. Her passion for classic beauty has led her to paint the memory of an intimate balcony in France. A curious moment at a garden party may be her intrigue for another special piece. As a collector of inspirational wisdom and images, she often incorporates words and thoughts into her work as part of her creative expression.

Her immersion in creating art through the years has allowed her to explore and "figure things out" on her own. Becky believes that through consistent observation and practice she has developed her own unique style of art. Her goal is to "create with joy" and to tap into the creative stream of consciousness that allows artists to feel suspended in time and place as they create their art.
